Shawak district chief jailed over bribery charge
GARDEZ (Pajhwok): The Appellant Court in southeastern Paktika province has sentenced the administrative chief of Shawak district to three years in jail for accepting 19,000 Pakistani rupees in bribe, an official said on Tuesday.
Chief prosecutor Ajmal Arab told Pajhwok Afghan News that Sarwar Andekhman, the district chief, had received 19,000 rupees in bribe in a legal case and the court awarded him three years imprisonment.
Andekhman, however, refused to accept the court verdict and asked the judge to reverse it.
Andekhman has been serving as district chief for the past three years.
As many as 10 officials had been detained over corruption charges last year in Paktika.
