Taliban commander among 19 rebels killed in Kunduz operation
Kunduz CITY (Pajhwok): At least 19 Taliban militants including a notorious commander have been killed during Afghan forces operation in northeastern Kunduz province on Wednesday, officials said.
Provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Qaseem Jangalbagh, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Afghan National Armey (ANA) forces repelled militants attacks on security posts in Khanabad and Chahar Dara districts of Kunduz.
He said 19 Taliban militants including Qari Zabihullah, a notorious Taliban commander were killed in counterattacks.
Large amount of ammunition was also seized from militants, he said, adding Afghan forces suffered no casualties during clashes.
Many Taliban key fighters, including their shadow district and provincial governors have been killed in Afghan forces’ recent operations in Kunduz, Jangalbagh said.
However, Taliban in a statement claimed inflicting heavy casualties to Afghan forces during clashes on the outskirts of Kunduz City and Chahar Dara and Khanabad districts.
The statement added the Taliban blocked Takhar-Khanabad road for traffic.
