Only president, people can oust me, says Alizai
HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The Provincial Council (PC) head for western Herat province on Thursday termed his arrest warrants issued by the Attorney General Office (AGO) and the Ministry of Interior (MoI) as ‘hasty’ and said he was only answerable to the people and the president.
The AGO and the MoI issued arrest warrants for Heart PC head Kamran Alizai after he forcibly took away an engineer facing bribery charges from the AGO office in Herat.
“Except the people and the president, nobody can suspend me and a delegation from Kabul should come and investigate the allegations leveled against me,” he said to reporters here.
The public representative said he had not beaten any attorney and only took the engineer from the AGO office because he was innocent. He took the engineer to the governor’s office.
Alizai said the engineer had done nothing wrong and AGO officials wanted to implicate him in a fake case and put him in prison.
He said he would resign if the president made him a single call but would not bow to anybody else.
Alizai said bribe charges against the engineer were false and there was no evidence in support of the allegation. The engineer also said he was ready to answer all allegations against him.
