Takhar bomb blast claims 5 lives
TALOQAN (Pajhwok): At least five people were killed and three others wounded in a bomb explosion in northern Takhar province on Saturday, an official said.
Sunatullah Taimur, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took place in Durqad district before noon. The blast hit civilians who were on the way to their farms.
The injured were evacuated to hospital, but no information about their condition was immediately available, the official said.
Earlier, the Takhar police chief’s convoy was also hit by a roadside on the Durqad-Khwaja Bahawuddin highway.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast.
A couple of days back, security forces reopened the highway for traffic after six days of blockage. Police spokesman Col. Abdul Khalil Aser said militants had blocked the road and planted landmine on it.
