Lawmaker shot injured in Herat gun attack
Herat governor’s spokesman, Jailani Farhad, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Sayed Mohammad Musa, a lawmaker from Badghis, came under gun attack in Shalban area of Herat City, the provincial capital.
"Musa was shopping in Shalban area when two motorcyclists opened fire at him around 10:30am today," he said.
He added the lawmaker was evacuated to the Herat zonal hospital and his condition was said to be stable.
The attackers managed to flee but police were investigating to arrest them, Farhad said.
Meanwhile, Herat Zonal Hospital spokesman, Mohammad Rafiq Sherzai, said the lawmaker had received wounds in the stomach. However, he said the injured was in stable condition.
Also on thursday, another Wolesi Jirga member survived a bomb attack that killed three civilians and injured 12 others in northern Balkh province.
