Iranian citizen among 40 drug smugglers detained
KABUL (Pajhwok): Forty individuals, including an Iranian citizen, have been arrested by police in connection with 30 cases of smuggling alcoholic drinks and drugs in different provinces, an official said on Saturday.
Ahmad Khalid Mowahid, the Criminal Justice Task Force’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News these suspects had been detained arrested in a spate of operation during the current month.
The arrests were made in Kabul, Panjsher, Samangan, Parwan, Nimroz, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunduz, Jawzjan, Helmand, Herat, Faryab, Farah and Badakhshan provinces, Mowahid said.
He added 118 kilograms of heroin, 24 kilograms of morphine, over 868 kilograms of opium, 297 liters of chemicals and 1872 liters of alcoholic beverages were recovered from the detainees. The task force is processing the cases,
Meanwhile, 27 individual were arrested in connection with 18 separate cases of drug smuggling in the different provinces and handed over to the task force in August.
