5 suspected drug smugglers arrested in Kabul, Baghlan
KABUL (Pajhwok): Five people have been arrested by counternarcotics police in connection with drug smuggling, the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) said on Wednesday.
A statement from CJTF said the alleged smugglers were arrested in four different cases in the capital Kabul and Baghlan province over the past one week.
It added that 13 kilograms of heroin, 79 kilograms of morphine, 209 kilograms of opium, 1,876 liters of alcoholic beverages, two weapons, seven mobile phone sets, three trucks and 18,260 afghanis were seized from the detainees.
Forty people have been arrested in connection with 31 drug cases across the country over the past month.The CJTF is responsible for trying offences involving 10kg of opium, 50kg of hashish, 50kg of chemicals or 50 litres of alcoholic beverages.
