India expected to offer Afghanistan fresh military aid
KABUL (Pajhwok): New Delhi may offer Kabul fresh defence assistance during President Ashraf Ghani’s visit to India next month, a leading newspaper reported on Saturday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will host Ghani, could extend additional defense support to the war-torn country in addition to the four attack helicopters that were supplied recently.
The Times of India said Delhi was handed an updated weapons list, including a request for additional helicopters, heavy vehicles and spares. A significant part of the requestwill be met.
Last month, Afghan National Army Chief of Staff Gen. Qadam Shah Shaheem visited India for talks with senior defense officials on military aid. He is believed to have won assurances from his interlocutors.
