Policeman among 3 dead in Ghazni clash
GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): One policeman and two Taliban have been killed and four others wounded in the Jaghatu district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Sunday.
Police chief, Brig. Gen. Aminullah Amarkhel, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban stormed police check-posts and the district building early in the morning.
One policeman and two militants were killed and three fighters and a cop wounded. A notorious Taliban commander was among the dead, Gen. Amarkhel said.
He added the Taliban’s corpses were still lying at the scene, but locals had transferred the bodies to the group later on.
A resident of the area, Mohammad Hussain, confirmed the clash lasted several hours. He heard light and heavy weapons fire last night, saying both sides had suffered casualties.
He said nine Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel were killed and several others wounded. However, he did not give details of militant casualties.
