Taliban torture, kill 2 Logar police in captivity
PUL-I-ALALM (Pajhwok): Taliban militants shot dead two kidnapped policemen after severely torturing them in captivity in central Logar province, an official said on Monday.
Logar crime branch police chief Col. Mohammad Jan Abid told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban had a day earlier kidnapped a police post commander, Sergeant Mustafa, and another policeman from the bazaar in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital.
He said the rebels shot dead the two policemen after severely torturing them in captivity and dumped their bodies on Monday in Padkhab area.
Abid said no one had been arrested so far in connection with the double murder, but an investigation into the incident was underway.
Ahmad Khalid, a resident of Padkhab area, said the Taliban dumped the two bodies on the side of a road and later villagers picked them up and handed over the corpses to police authorities.
There has been no word from the Taliban about the incident.
