5 ALP men, 4 rebels killed in Faryab firefight
MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Five Afghan local police (ALP) personnel and four Taliban militants were killed during a clash in northern Faryab province on Wednesday, an official said.
Maj. Nizamuddin Qaisari, the Qaisari district police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash took place in Toysmet locality of the district in the afternoon between ALP commander Syed Basir and militants.
He added Basir was killed along with four other ALP men during the clash that left four insurgents dead. A sixth ALP members and five Taliban rebels were wounded in the incident.
A security official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said ALP commander Basir and his six colleagues were killed and the Taliban shifted their dead comrades to Shakh area.
He said the slain ALP commander had been involved in taking money and weapons from people and it was the reason people supported militants to kill him.
