Ministry seeks probe into caging of Afghans with drugs in Iran
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) on Saturday condemned Iran’s for showing some caged Afghan with drugs.
“We sadly received a report saying Iranian police confined a number of Afghans to a cage with drugs and alcoholic beverages and then showed them to the public as an achievement,”
A statement from the ministry said that the incident happened in Shiraz City on September 7. The action as condemned as inhuman, a violation of human rights, an insult to Afghans and an attack on humanity.
This action of Iranian police violated the 1951 refugees’ convention, 1971 refugees’ protocol and other agreements between the two countries, the ministry added.
It asked the government to thoroughly investigate the outrageous incident and take the perpetrators to justice.
