Security beefed up country-wide for Eid
KABUL (Pajhwok): Additional forces have been deployed to sensitive areas, along busy roads and picnic points as part of a special security plan for Eid ul Adha festival across the country, an official said on Saturday.
Abdul Basir Mujahid, spokesman for 101 Asmya Zone, told Pajhwok Afghan News more check-points and troops had been deployed in key areas to prevent unpleasant incident.
He said mobile teams of security officials would travel in the city to chase the suspected individuals and capture them, adding Security forces, especially police, would remain high alert during Eid holidays.
He asked people to contact on 119,100 or 0202100400 in case security issue or doubtful activity.
He said police had always been on high alert to prevent any terrorist activity, but they had taken special measures for Eid days so that the festival passed off peacefully and the people enabled to share joys of the religious event.
Mujahid said intelligence agencies had increased their activities to ward off any possible insurgent attack.
The spokesman urged residents to prevent their children from playing with firecrackers or similar devices during Eid celebrations.
Kabul residents always insist on improved security measures, said Jamshid, a resident. He called security arrangements in Kabul city as satisfactory, but urged more such efforts during Eid days so that people could celebrate the event in a peaceful environment.
