UN remains a committed partner of Afghans: Envoy
KABUL (Pajhwok): United Nations secretary general’s special representative for Afghanistan on Sunday said the world’s body remained a committed partner and supporter of Afghans in their efforts to achieve stability, prosperity and a lasting peace.
Tadamichi Yamamoto was quoted in a statement issued by the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) as wishing all Afghans ‘a peaceful and joyous Eidul Adha.
“Eid-ul-Adha is a time of peace, which Afghans richly deserve,” said Yamamoto, who is also head of UNAMA.
On behalf of the UN family in Afghanistan, Yamamoto expressed the hope that all Afghans would be able to celebrate the occasion with family and friends.
