112 insurgents killed in past 24 hours, says MoD
KABUL (Pajhwok): As many as 112 insurgents and four Afghan National Army (ANA) troops have been killed during clashes over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence said on Monday.
The insurgents suffered casualties during clashes with security forces in Kunduz, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Ghor, Ghazni and Nangarhar provinces, a MoD statement said.
It said 51 insurgents were killed and 15 others wounded in Ab Band districts and areas near the provincial capital of southern Ghazni province.
Another 24 insurgents were killed in Chora district and surrounding areas of Tirinkot, the capital of Uruzgan province, five in Qala-i-Zal district and on the outskirts of Kunduz City, the capital of northern Kunduz province.
More than a dozen Taliban militants were killed in Shah Walikot district of southern Kandahar province, 16 were killed in Pasaband district of western Ghor province and one in the Hesarak district of eastern Nangarhar province.
The statement said 26 more insurgents were wounded during the period that saw four ANA soldiers falling. There was no word from the Taliban about the MoD claims.
