Herat attorney office registers 900 criminal cases since March
HEART CITY (Pajhwok): As many as 900 criminal cases have been registered in the concerned justice department in western Herat province since March this year, an official said on Tuesday.
Abdul Haq Ahmadi, head of the appellant attorney office, told Pajhwok Afghan News the registered cases mostly belong to incidents of violence, corruption, terrorist activities, kidnapping, killing, smuggling of drugs and other criminal activities.
He said among the hundreds of criminals, 20 were hanged to death after court trial who had been indicated in terrorist, kidnapping and killing cases.
Since the launch of the solar year his department registered 28 cases of corruption of them 14 had been completed and the remaining were in progress, he said. 62 suspected individuals had been introduced to the attorney office.
In addition he said 120 cases of violence against women including sexual attacks, murder, torture, forces marriages and suicide had been registered.
He said 140 suspected individuals had been detained in connection to above 120 incidents of violence.
Ahmadi said other cases such as robbery, murder, moral crimes, children kidnapping and fraud were being investigated.
Separately, Ghulam Jilani Farhad, the governor’s spokesman, said 97 government officials had been dismissed over their involvement in corruption, wrong use of authority, land grabbing and bribe from their positions.
He said the fired individuals worked in municipality, custom, agriculture and Breshan Shirkat departments.
According to attorney officer officials Herat province ranked second in criminal activities after Kabul.
