Local uprising group join Taliban in Faryab
HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A 20-member group of armed men led by Abdul Karim and Mohammad Ayub have joined the Taliban ranks in the Grizwan district of northwestern Faryab province, a reliable source said on Tuesday.
The district police Chief rejected the development, but Mullah Shoiab, the Taliban shadow district chief acknowledged that 20 armed men who supported the government had joint the Taliban.
Police Chief Abdul Samad said nobody joined the Taliban in the district and he rejected the Taliban claim. He said individuals named Abdul Karim and Mohammad Ayoub did not existed in the ranks of police or local upraising groups.
He, however, confirmed one of the local upraising group leaders Abdul Karim had beaten a tribal elder Obaidullah who was his uncle.
