27 rebels, 4 ANA troops killed in past 24 hours
KABUL (Pajhwok): Twenty-seven insurgents have been killed during separate security operations in several provinces over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence said on Friday.
The operations involving personnel from the Afghan National Army (ANA) and other security forces were conducted in Ghazni, Pakika, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Ghor, Kunduz, Laghman and Kapisa provinces, the defence ministry said in a statement.
A majority, 23, militants were killed on the Kandahar-Tirinkot highway, the statement said, adding the remaining four rebels were killed in Greshk district of southern Helmand province and another three were injured.
Four ANA soldiers were killed during these operations over the past 24 hours, the statement added, saying ANA troops with all their capacity were trying to provide security to the countrymen.
The Taliban also say they have carried out attacks in Uruzgan, Kunduz, Jawzjan, Helmand and Kunar provinces, inflicting casualties on government forces.
