Ghani, Abdullah attend fateha for Zarawar Zahid
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani and his Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah on Saturday attended a prayer service for the slain Nangarhar police chief Brig. Gen. Zarawar Zahid and victims of a double suicide bombing in Kabul.
Zarawar was recently killed in a roadside explosion in Hesarak district of the eastern province along with some policemen.
The twin suicide bombings killed some 30 people and injured dozens more on September 5 in the heart of Kabul.
The fateha for Zarawar and his slain colleagues and the blasts victims was offered at Eid Gah Mosque on Saturday afternoon.
Top government officials including National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Cabinet members and politicians attended the memorial service, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
The president once again offered his condolences to families of the slain security officials and prayed for the departed souls.
