Kabul, Islamabad urged to defuse tension for peace sake
Sikandar Hayat Sherpao, provincial chairman of the Qaumi Watan Party, expressed serious concern over escalating tensions between the neighbours.
In a statement on Friday, Sherpao urged Kabul and Islamabad to quickly resolve their issues as strained ties would negatively contribute toward peace and stability in both countries.
Pakhtuns had enormously suffered on both sides of the border for many decades and they had rendered unforgettable sacrifices in the war against terrorism, he noted.
Sherpao said the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan should realise the delicacy of the situation and evolve a concrete diplomatic and political mechanism to strengthen socio-economic ties.
He said that cordial relations were a prerequisite for regional peace and stability. QWP would continue to raise its voice for the rights of Pakhtuns living in Pakistan and Afghanistan, he promised.
