Sanjay Dutt to star in movie on Afghan child bombers
KABUL (Pajhwok): A renowned Indian actor will play a retired soldier in an upcoming movie on Afghan children who are trained as suicide bombers. Sanjay is playing the role of a retired soldier in the movie.
Sanjay Dutt, who was walked out of jail six months ago, would play the soldier’s role in Torbaaz, a film focused on how innocent kids are dragged into the war. The Hindustan Times reported on Sunday.
The newspaper quoted Girish Malik, director of the film, as saying: “We keep hearing about all these killings and suicide bombers across the world. There are kids being trained to be suicide bombers in Afghanistan.
“Recently, when a young man blew himself up in Turkey, we got thinking. I wanted to explore what really goes behind the making of these?” he told the daily.
Ex-Pakistani cricketerRameez Raja told him they should give some hope to the children who were taught that killing was a virtue, the moviemaker said, adding thatwas how the idea came.
“Torbaaz is the story of a man who had lost everything but returns to Kabul with a new purpose in life. He teaches cricket to the kids and who had been wielding guns till then, experience the joy of playing a sport...”
Sanjay Dutt had been convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. He served a 42-month sentence at Pune’s Yerwada jail before being freed on February 25, 103.
