Fazlur Rahman blasts forced repatriation of Afghans

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A pro-Talibaninfo-icon Pakistani cleric has alleged the security situation in Afghanistaninfo-icon has worsened as a result of the US-led invasion.

Jamiat Ulemainfo-icon-i-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also voiced serious reservations about the hasty repatriation of Afghan refugees, slamming the process as the worst example of ‘cruelty.

Addressing apublic gathering at the Abbottabad Bar Club on Wednesday, he asked if there was peace in Afghanistan, why the US and allied forces were not leaving that country.

Afghanistan was still in a war--like situation and there was bloodshed all around due to the flawed policies of the US and its allies, the JUI chief insisted.

The rightwing politician called Afghan refugees guestsand brotherswho should be treated politely and be repatriated with dignity. “Our 40-year hospitality is going to be ruined if forced repatriation of Afghans continues.”
