PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Five hundred Afghan families voluntarily returned to their homeland from different parts of Peshawar via Torkham border, officials said on Friday.

Accompanied by UNHCR officials and Afghan refugees Shurainfo-icon members, a convoy of 500 trucks reached Torkham border on Thursday morning before crossing into Afghanistaninfo-icon.

In Torkham, the returning families were offered sweets and cold drinks by Pakistaninfo-icon’s border officials. Ahmad Wazirwal, the Afghan refugee Shura chief, praised Pakistan for hosting three million refugees.

He underlined the need for cordial relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan for the sake of stronger trade and defence links, according to The News International.
