Afghans trounce star-studded BCB XI in warm-up match
Shahidi smashed 69 runs while Nabi bagged captured four wickets to help their side defend a 233-run total in a low-scorer, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) spokesman said.
Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News the national squad was put in to bat first. They were bowled out with four deliveries to go, with Shahidi hitting a fine 69.
His innings stabilised Afghanistan, after the visitors slumped to 47 for 3 in the 15th over. Shahidi was lent good support by skipper Asghar Stanikzai, who contributed 31.
The star-studded BCB XI, including eight international players, were kept in check by Afghanistan's bowlers. Mosaddek Hossain top-scored for the hosts with 76.
Karim Janat, Fareed Ahmed and Mohammad Nabi shone with the ball, applying brakes on fast scoring. Legspinner Rashid Khan dislodged Alauddin Babu for a duck, making matters worse for the opposition.
