Unity govt to fulfill all promises, says Mohaqqiq

Unity govt to fulfill all promises, says Mohaqqiq

Sep 24, 2016 - 21:26

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The unity government remains committed to keeping its promises including the conduct of Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon elections, the second deputy chief executive officer (CEO) said on Saturday.

Mohammad Mohaqqiq told a press conference here after returning from China that three years were left in ending the unity government’s mandate and during that period all promises would be honoured and implemented.

About differences between the government leaders, he hoped some of the existing differences would be resolved in future and there was nothing as such to be worried about.

The second CEO said the unity government was committed to holding Wolesi Jirga polls and implementing commitments made under the national unity government deal.

He said President Ghani had issued a decree on electoral reform, paving the way for conducting elections and appointing commissioners and making other arrangements.

Muhaqqiq was happy over the peace agreement between the Hezb-i-Islamiinfo-icon Afghanistaninfo-icon (HIA) and the government and said: “When the peace deal signed, I was in China on a visit and I felt very pleased. I welcome the HIA.”

Unaware of HIA leaders coming to Kabul, he said they would definite come because the peace agreement was for reintegration. “We will jointly make efforts with HIA for development of Afghanistan and Inshallah the problems, sorrow and pain of our people will decline to some extent.”

He said the Afghanistan government had long ago opened its arms to embrace peace and invited its armed opponents to dialogue.

Mohaqqiq about his visit to China said he had detailed discussions with Chinese about the Silk Road revival and improvement because the road was essential for Afghanistan’s economic prosperity.
