2 heroin-making factories destroyed in Nangarhar
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two heroin-making factories have been destroyed by security forces in eastern Nangarhar province, local officials said on Sunday.
The governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News Afghan Special Forces conducted an operation in Nokarkhel area of Khogyani district, destroying two heroin processing factories on Saturday night.
He said the Special Forces also detained the factories’ workers and seized a Kalashnikov and a pistol from them.
Meanwhile, the provincial government in a statement said the Public Health Department had seized 2.5 tonnes of low quality and expired beverages.
It said food items’ investigation team of the department confiscated 266 cartons, equivalent to 2.5 tonnes, of poor quality and expired beverages from a yard in the Kabul Ada area in the jurisdiction of 5th municipal district of Jalalabad city, the provincial capital.
The statement said the captured beverages, which would be destroyed, had been transferred to the low quality items’ depot at the public health department.
