Pentagon weighs Afghan war supplemental request
“We have a range. We’re going to refine it. And they’ll get a refined number when [Congress members] return in November, hopefully to pass a budget for the federal government,” Ash Carter said.
US media outlets quoted Carter as telling journalists during a visit to Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota that the budget request was in the process of being finalised by Department of Defense.
However, he stopped short of putting a specific figure on the monetary, saying the Pentagon’s budgetary experts were weighing a “range”.
Carter saw opportunities to strengthen the campaign against the Islamic State in Afghanistan with Operation Resolute Support, with coalition partners.
