2 civilians dead, as many injured in Kandahar explosion
KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Two civilians were killed and two others wounded in a land mine explosion in southern Kandahar province on Thursday morning, an official said.
The blast took place in the Chashma area of Maiwand district at around 8am, Samim Khpalwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said a vehicle carrying the four members of a family to the district centre struck the roadside bomb. In the blast, he added, two people were killed and two others wounded. The car was also damaged.
According to gubernatorial spokesman, after the incident, police reached the blast scene and shifted the injured to hospital. He said the mine had been planted by militants.
