New building being constructed for public library
KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A new building is being construction for the public library in the capital of southeastern Khost province, the governor said on Friday.
Laying the foundation stone of the building, Governor Hukam Khan Habibi told Pajhwok Afghan News the reading culture would get a boost with the execution of the project.
He asked youth, particularly school and university students, to focus on developing the reading habit. “I want all youth to reinforce their love of books. Bibliophilism is what our future is tied to,” he remarked.
Ministry of Information official Abdul Muqim Khan promised the building would have the facilities that a modern library needed. The project, costing 9.5 million afghanis, would be completed in two years.
Director of Information Mohammad Amin Shah Ulfat promised all-out efforts to equip the library with the requisite facilities, including books and other materials. Traders will be urged to donate books to the library.
