KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Wednesday hailed the peace pact between the government of Afghanistaninfo-icon and the Hezb-i Islami group.

Signed by President Ashraf Ghani and Gulbadin Hekmatyar, the agreement would pave the ground for restoring peace in the country, hoped OIC Secretary-General Iyad Ameen Madani.

In a statement, the OIC chief remarked: "The agreement proves that the end to the conflict in Afghanistan lies in dialogue, and not in military means and violence,"

Reiterating the OIC's supportfor durable peace, security and stability in Afghanistan, Madani believed all other groups would shun violence and facilitate the quest for a peaceful solution to the violence.
