Rabbani’s death anniversary ceremony disrupted
KABUL (Pajhwok): Full-throated slogans against ex-president Hamid Karzai on Friday disrupted a ceremony marking the death anniversary of Burhanuddin Rabbani.
The ceremony at the Loya Jirga tent in Kabul began with a speech from Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah, an ally of the for former president Rabbani.
When noted jihadi leader Prof. Abdul RabRassoulSayyaf took the rostrum, a participant of the ceremony rose from his seat and shouted “Death to Karzai”.
Some participants angrily reacted to the slogan, saying it an individual’s personal view. Prof. Sayyaf replied the ceremony was not aimed to denigrate anyone.
Meanwhile, Karzai intervened to calm down the participants, saying the enemies of the country were out to fuel divisions among Afghans.
