Kunar Civil Hospital being reconstructed with Saudi support

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The embassy of Saudi Arabia in Kabulinfo-icon has offered to reconstruct the Civil Hospital in eastern Kunar province and equip it with modern facilities, a cabinet minister said on Sunday.

Public Healthinfo-icon Minister said this during a visit trip to Jalalabad, the catpial of eastern Nangarhar province. The Public Health Department of Kunar has devised a plan for the reconstructioninfo-icon of the hospital.

The plan was shared with the Saudi ambassador to Afghanistaninfo-icon on Saturday, the minister added. “Residents of Kunar have problems in terms of health services, but they would be resolved.”

Meanwhile, Kunar Civil Hospital Director Dr. Mohammad Farooq Sahak told Pajhwok Afghan News the hospital did not have a proper building. “We have modern equipment and professional doctors, but we have no building.”

Saudi Ambassador Abdur Rahman Al-Ghasib promised sharing the reconstruction plan with his government. He said King Salman was interested in supporting Afghanistan and would positively respond to the funding request.

A hospital, financed by Saudi Arabia, was inaugurated in Nangarhar province on Saturday.
