President Ghani off to Belgium for Brussels Conference
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Monday departed for Belgium at the head of a high-level delegation to attend the Brussels Conference, his office in Kabul said.
In his address at the event, Ghani would highlight his government achievements in introducing reforms, good governance, women’s rights, private sector investments and other economic activities.
The president would hold separate meetings with representatives of different countries, a statement from Presidential Palace.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah, Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, National Security Advisor Hanif Atmar, Finance Minister Ekhlil Hakimi, Women’s Affairs Minister Dilbar Nazar and other officials are accompanying him.
Earlier, Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi said the Afghan delegation would return on a successful note from the Brussels Conference as the government had worked hard to boost its revenue and combat corruption.
As many as 70 foreign ministers and heads of 30 international organisations are taking part in the crucial conference, scheduled for October 4-5. The international community may pledge $3.5 billion in aid over the next four years in the country.
