56 Daesh fighters eliminated in Achin raids: Police
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 56 Islamic State (IS) -- or Daesh rebels -- have been killed in ground offensives and airstrikes in the Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official claimed on Tuesday.
Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, the provincial police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the joint operations were conducted by national and international forces on Monday morning.
He added the operations in the Pikhe-Khwar area of Achin district left at least 56 IS rebels dead. Weapons and ammunitions belonging to the insurgents were also destroyed.
Security forces and civilians were not harmed during the operations aimed at purging the restive district of Daesh militants, the police spokesman said.
