Sherpao urges talks to overcome Af-Pak trust deficit
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A senior Pakistani politician has alleged some elements are out to disturb relations between Kabul and Islamabad, calling for joint efforts to counter such inimical moves.
Qaumi Watan Party chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao asked the Pakistanileadership to launch a dialogue with Afghanistan, stressing contacts at various levels between the neighbours.
Addressing a public meeting in the Shangla district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the former chief minister said talks were essential to overcome the trust deficit between the two countries.
He called for a dignified return of Afghans to their home country. “We have served our Afghan brothers for decades and now the enemies of Pakhtuns and Pakistan are in a bid to sabotage this service and hospitality…”
Sherpao promised QWP would continue to raise its voice for the rights and development of Pakhtuns at every forum. He also highlighted the need for unitingthe Pakhtuns to ensure progress in the region.
