88 Taliban fighters killed in Nawa airstrike: ANA
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Nearly 90 Taliban militants, including four notorious commanders, have been killed and several others wounded in southern Helmand province, an official claimed on Thursday.
Capt. Ahmad Shakil, the Maiwand Corps spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Afghan National Armey (ANA) conducted an airstrike in Bolan and Sar Gudar localities on the outskirt of Nawa district.
At least 88 militants were killed and dozens injured in the raid, he said, without further details of the overnight operation.
Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi -- without commenting on the airstrike -- claimed inflicting casualties on security personnel in Marja and Nada Ali districts of the volatile province.
