Ex-police officer killed, a rebel arrested in Herat
HEART CITY (Pajhwok): A former policeman has been killed by two motorcyclists while a notorious Taliban rebel was arrested in western Herat province, an official said on Thursday.
Jelani Farhad, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Abdul Sami, a former police officer was killed in the limits of 1th police’s district this morning.
Sami had left his duty as police officer about a month ago, he said, adding that the motive behind the incident was personal enmity.
According to another report, a notorious Taliban militant was arrested by police in Heart.
Provincial police spokesman, Abdur Raouf Ahmadi identified the arrested militant as Jalil Ahmad known as Nesha.
He said the arrested rebel was involved in terrorizing seven police officers, planting roadside bombs and collecting Usher from people. The rebel was first wounded ruing a clash with police and then arrested, Ahmadi added.
A number of pistols also seized from the insurgent, he said.
However, Ahmadi did not provide details about the location of the incident.
