Taliban capture 4 more security posts in Lashkargah
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Four more security posts have fallen to Taliban in Lashkaragh, the capital of southern Helmand province where heavy clashes are ongoing, an official said Saturday.
A security official, wishing not to be named, confided to Pajhwok Afghan News heavy clashes that erupted on Friday night were still ongoing in the third police district.
Four security posts were captured by the Taliban during the clashes, said the source, based in the fourth police district.“The rebels are now fighting the in third district,” the official said, adding both sides had suffered casualties.
Nasrullah, a resident of the Mukhtar area of Lashkargah, also said fierce fighting was underway and civilians could not sleep a wink last night.
A large number of people from central parts of the provincial capital had fled their homes, he claimed, saying the situation was worrisome.
The Taliban have not yet commented.
