Commissioning of transnational rail track discussed
KABUL (Pajhwok): Top Turkmenistan government officials on Sunday discussed progress on commissioning of the first phase of an ambitious transnational railway trunk.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired the meeting on the development of the international railway transport corridor, Trend news agency reported
Construction and installation work on the Atamyrat-Imamnazar (Turkmenistan)-Akina (Afghanistan) section of the rail track is scheduled for early November 2016.
Passing through Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, the corridor will provide access to China's extensive rail network and the Asia-Pacific countries.
Roads, power lines and energy pipelines are built simultaneously in areas where the 88-kilometre transnational railway trunk is being constructed, according to the news service.The section between Imamnazar and Akina border posts is three kilometers.
