6 Taliban dead, 8 injured in Nangarhar infighting
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Six Taliban members have been killed and eight others, including a civilian, wounded during infighting in the Batikot district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.
Ghalib Mujahid, the town’s administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the two rival Taliban groups clashed over distribution of government farmlands in Ambar Khani area late on Sunday.
Taliban’s shadow district chief for the Momand Dara and five others were killed in the firefight while seven rebels and a civilian were wounded. The Taliban canalisation head was among the wounded, he said.
The clash happened on farmlands where the Taliban have a strong control and gave government land on lease to the people. An area resident said four Taliban militants were killed and some wounded.
Taliban have not yet commented about the incident.
