SHEBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Key Taliban figure Maulvi Tash Mohammad has been killed, six others including four Uzbek rebels wounded and several villages have been cleared of militants during security force operation in Qosh Tapa district of northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Monday.
Mohammad Reza Ghafoori, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the clearing operation was launched Sunday night and continued for several hours.
Mohammad Zafar, the resident of locality said, the Taliban captured some security forces’ posts in the district three days back, but after heavy clashes forces retake the control of posts and driven the Taliban from the area.
But Taliban Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid rejected security forces claim and said the posts were still under the group control.
