Pakistan condemns Kabul attacks as brutal acts
KABUL (Pajhwok): Pakistan on Wednesday strongly condemned the terrorist attacks on Cart-i-Sakhi shrine and Charyar Mosque in Kabul as brutal acts that resulted in the loss of precious human lives and injuries to scores of innocent people.
“We extend our profound condolences to the government and people of Afghanistan and sympathise with families that lost their loved ones in these dreadful terrorist attacks,” the Foreign Office in Islamabad said in a statement.
Released by the Pakistan embassy in Kabul, the statement added: “We also pray for the speedy recovery of the wounded.” Pakistan reiterated its condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
Sixteen Shiite mourners were killed and another 54 wounded in the attack on the Cart-i-Sakhi shrine in the 3rd police district, the Interior Ministry spokesman said.
Sediq Sediqqi told Pajhwok Afghan News all the assailants were killed. He did not put any figure on the number of attackers, but a well-placed security source said four gunmen fired at the mourners.
