Moneychanger’s body found a week after being kidnapped
MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A moneychanger was killed after being abducted in the capital of northern Balkh province, a security official said on Thursday.
Haji Farid, 25, was kidnapped a week back in Mazar-i-Sharif and his dead body found on Wednesday night in Shadian Desert, the deputy police chief said.
Col. Abdul Raziq Qaderi told Pajhwok Afghan News a vehicle belonging to Haji Farid had also been found three days ago in the city.
A relative of the victim, Abdul Jabbar, said: “Haji Farid was abducted one week earlier and his corpse found yesterday.” Farid didn’t have personal hostilities with any one. Jabbar believed the moneychanger had probably been kidnapped for ransom.
But Col. Qaderi said the kidnappers had not asked Farid’s family for ransom. The police officer thought the man might have been killed due to personal enmity.
No one has been arrested so far in connection with the kidnapping while a probe into the incident has been launched, according to Qaderi.
