KABUL  troops in the Tagab district of central Kapisa province, an official said on Thursday.

Quick Reaction Force and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) personnel raided Mohammad Naeem’s residence in the Anarjoi area on a tip-off regarding the presence of militants there.

Qais Qadiri, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the joint force was attacked from Naeem’s house. In return fire from the raiding party, the local council head’s spouse was killed, he said.

However, the gubernatorial spokesman explained, the troops found no insurgents in the house. His view was endorsed by the Tagab district’s administrative chief, Abdul Qudus Sapi.

Resident Baryalai, angered by the operation, asked why the innocent woman had been killed. He called for an immediate end to civilian casualties, reminding the government of its promise to halt nighttime operations.
