KABUL over the past 24 hours, the US military said on Friday.

The troops also found a weapons cache and safely cleared five improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during joint operations in different provinces, a statement from Bagram airbase said.

Afghan forces found and cleared one IED in Ghazni City and killed one enemy in the Baraki Barak district of Logar. Another IED was defused in the Kot district of Nangarhar province.

In Paktika province, seven fighters were killed and two suspects detained in Barmal district. The detainees were transferred to a base for questioning.

Another four suspected rebels were arrested and two IEDs defused during operations in Sharan, according to the statement, which said a rebel was held in in the Zarghoon Shahr.

In the same area, the combined force discovered a weapons cache, containing one 120 mm round and one military uniform.
