FARAH CITY (PAN): Two tribal enders were shot dead and a third seriously wounded by gunmen in the capital of western Farah province on Thursday.

Haji Abdul Manan and Haji Mohammad Daud, belonging to Bala Baluk district, were gunned down in Shamalgah area near Farah City, the governor’s spokesman said.

Abdur Rahman Zhwandai told Pajhwok Afghan News a third elder, Abdul Ali Pahlawan was critically wounded in the attack. He blamed the Taliban for the assault.

Abdul Saboor, Pahlawan’s nephew, said the elders belonged to the Kinsak village of the district. They wanted to share the area’s problem with provincial authorities, he added.

Pahlawan was initially evacuated to the Farah Civil Hospital, from where he was referred in critical condition to a medical facility in neighbouring Herat province.
