ISLAMABAD (PAN President Asif Ali Zardari administered oath to a 25-member federal cabinet at the President House in Islamabad on Friday. The incoming cabinet includes 16 federal ministers and nine ministers of state.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan took oath as interior minister, Khwaja Asif as minister of water and power, Ishaq Dar as finance minister, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as minister of petroleum, oil and gas, Ahsan Iqbal as minister of planning and development.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who was elected as head of the  government two days ago, has decided to keep the portfolio of defence ministry. Ministry of Defence.

Khwaja Saad Rafiq, Abdul Qadir Baloch‚ Rana Tanveer, Zahid Hamid, Pervez Rasheed, Sikandar Hayat Bosan, Kamran Michael, Sadruddin Rashidi, Barjees Tahir and Murtaza Jatoi were also sworn in as federal ministers. They will be given portfolios later on.

Khurram Dastagir, Anusha Rehman, Usman Ibrahim‚ ‚ Jam Kamal‚ Abdul Hakeem Baloch‚ Mian Balighur Rehman‚ Saira Afzal Tarar, Pir Aminul Hasnat and Sheikh Aftab Ahmed took oath as ministers of state.

Prime Minister Sharif, Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq and Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, were also present at the presidency for the oath-taking ceremony.

Nawaz Sharif‚ Senate chairman‚ National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq‚ parliamentarians‚ the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee chairman‚ services chiefs‚ politicians‚ diplomats and other officials attended the oath-taking ceremony.
