Attack on NATO supply trucks kills 6
ISLAMABAD (PAN): A rocket-arson attack on NATO supply containers killed six people and injured two others in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber tribal region, bordering Afghanistan's eastern province of Nangarhar, on Monday.
The assault in the Shagai area of Jamrud sub-district touched off a fierce clash between the militants and security personnel, political administration official Asmatullah Wazir told reporters.
He said three drivers and as many assailants were killed in the attack, following which the assailants set three containers on fire. A paramilitary soldier and a cleaner were wounded in the incident in Khyber -- a region rife with homegrown insurgents.
Elsewhere in the country, four people were injured in the port city of Karachi. A number of shootings and explosions jolted Lyari, Kharadar and neighboring areas of the sprawling city.
Five back-to-back hand grenade attacks rocked Khadda Market and nearby areas late Sunday night while gunfire continued in Naya Abad, Moosa Lane, ICI Bridge and Kharadar localities.
