16th edition of Afghan Cup to begin on Jul 4

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): The 16th edition of the sporting and cultural event -- Afghan Cup 2013 -- is scheduled to get under way on July 4, the Afghan Sportsinfo-icon Federation (ASF) announced on Sunday.

The four-day event would feature soccer and basketball teams from all over the United States, Canada and other parts of the worldinfo-icon, a statement from ASF said.

Fans from Afghanistaninfo-icon, Europe, Canada, the US and the rest of the world will enjoy four days of sporting and cultural activities including a concert on the final day.

Community leaders, guests from Afghanistan, US states, Afghan Embassy representatives and media representatives will be attending the festivities.

Preliminary soccer matches, starting on July 4 and ending on July 6, will be played at the Howison Park in Prince William County of Virginia. Indoor games will be played at John Champe High School in Loudoun County, Virginia.
