KABUL, media reports said on Wednesday.
Seventeen suspected rebels were killed and two others injured in a US drone strike targeting a house in the North Waziristan tribal region late on Tuesday night, the Dawn newspaper reported.
Four missiles were fired from the drone on the house in the Sirai Darpakhel area near Miranshah bazaar. The latest drone strike left 17 people dead and two injured, local officials confirmed.
The newspaper quoted unnamed intelligence sources as saying the target was a key insurgent leader staying at the house. They would not say whether or not the militant leader was among the fatalities.
Separately, six paramilitary troops were killed and seven others injured late on Tuesday night when militants stormed their check-post near Frontier Region (FR) in Peshawar.
As a result of the attack in Jina Kor area at about 11pm, the insurgents kidnapped two Frontier Constabulary personnel, police said. The ensuing clash continued till early hours of Wednesday.
